All the World's a Stage
On Monday, February 26, Saint Patrick Catholic School hosted Daniel Scruggs and his incredible interactive museum, Around the World - Peace Culture Music! Students enjoyed learning about and hearing his amazing assortment of musical instruments from around the globe. Since we celebrate African American History Month in February, we placed a special emphasis on the instruments, rhythms, and music that originated on the continent of Africa and how it has shaped and contributed to all genres of contemporary music. It was a musical celebration!
We want all of our Wolfhound students to be exposed to music and all that it has to offer us, but some children discover a unique passion for it and pursue their love for music and song through opportunities like Zero Bell strings and musical theater. The Saint Patrick Catholic School theater program has always been an integral part of our Fine Arts program and a place where many of our young Wolfhounds discover their voice and love for the stage. The program remains as vibrant as ever under the leadership of Theatre Director Jason Kypros, and the opportunity to perform on stage and work behind the scenes continues to inspire a high rate of participation among our student body. Recently, one of our current students and one of our graduates have decided to share their talents with a larger audience. Fourth Grade student Alana K. has been cast in the Virginia Opera’s production of Madame Butterfly in which she will be performing as far as Richmond and Fairfax. Class of 2022 Alumna, Magnolia M., just wrapped a series of performances at the Sandler Center on February 23-25 in the Virginia Music Theatre’s production of Evita! Brava!
